Some of you may remember the study that was talked about a few years back on the relative length of a woman's fingers, and her (suspected) exposure to androgens in the womb....well, the plot thickens....

This post immediately made me think of a presentation I had done last semester in my abnormal seminar on GID. The article, which I will post below, looked at this 2D:4D ratio among women and men who identify as either homosexual or heterosexual. The study found that there was a difference in this ratio between homosexual and heterosexual women, though this difference did not appear between the homosexual and heterosexual men. Although this does not exactly relate to the study mentioned in the post, I thought it was worth bringing up just to show some more literature on the finger ratio position. I looked further into the subject when I was doing my research, and unfortunately there were not strong conclusions received concerning men and why there isn’t much distinction among sexuality. We did not include more of this research in our presentation, though, given that this discusses sexuality and not gender, which are two completely different concepts (often forgot in the psychology world unfortunately). I would be interested to see, though, that given that there are no significant differences between male homosexuals and male heterosexuals’ ratio, whether there is the same response from gay men concerning males that have this “desired” 2D:4D ratio as women have towards these men.
